We ran a massive open online course (MOOC) back in April this year for people with type 2 diabetes as a response to COVID19. Given that all face to face structured education has been put on hold indefinitely, it was a way to deliver education to a large audience. The response to the course was fantastic and around 1000 people successfully took part in it. The results from the pre to post-course questionnaires were overwhelmingly positive. It gave people more understanding about their condition and also provided some reassurance for others, during a very unsettling time.
We submitted a paper about the MOOC which has just been published in BMJ Innovation. The paper can be accessed here and offers an insight into how education can be delivered at scale, in compliance with social distancing policies.
